Brooks B67 Saddle Noise

Brooks B67 Saddle Noise

Over the years I have had problems with Brooks B67 saddles making more and more noise as time passes. I have had to purchase a new saddle every 18 months or so for many years. I tried applying oil to various parts of the saddle or just spraying WD40 all over the underside. I've tried applying it to the springs, the head where the leather is stretched over the metal, the silver bits and so on. It might make a very short term difference but in the long run it doesn't help. You can even squirt some water under the saddle and that that does provide some short term relief but unfortunately results in the leather stretching and so ruining the saddle.

So why am I posting ? Well I've found the solution. The picture shows the two areas that need to be lubricated. Apply a semi solid lubricant. I use dubbin but proof hide or even E45 will do the trick. Push it into the gaps in this area and you'll be all set for a quiet ride.
